Spring 2019 Quilt Market - Early Bird

Early Bird
by Bonnie and Camille for Moda Fabrics

The Early Bird collection brings back the ever popular Vintage Birds print from the Vintage Picnic collection.  This collection has colorways in Red, Aqua, Pink, Gray, Navy, Green, and Cream.  The Vintage Birds will be offered on Aqua, Gray, Navy, or Cream backgrounds.

The tiny floral print, Rosie,  is similar to the very popular tiny floral print in Vintage Picnic, but not exact.  The design is slightly larger and has a few differently shaped flowers.  The colors are just as beautiful. It will be a nice substitute for the Vintage Picnic  tiny floral print.

The gray on the sample boards looked very taupe. I don't know if it was the lighting or not.

Tillalili Fat Quarter Club May 2019

Tillalili Fat Quarter Club
May 2019

Hello Club Members and Guests!

May seems to be the kick off to all the U.S. patriotic Summer months starting with Memorial Day, so a "Red, White, and Blue" theme this month seemed appropriate.  I had a great bundle planned for everyone from the "Stars and Stripes Gatherings" collection by Primitive Gatherings for Moda, but apparently Moda had other plans for us. Moda only sent 8, 9, and 10 yard bolts!  That's barely enough fabric for half the amount of bundles needed for the clubs each month!

After the initial shock and panic, I looked around the studio and pulled any red, white, and blue bolts I could find.  With a little playing around with the fabrics I was able to put together some great bundles that you'll be able to use for many different projects.

The bundles may be red, white, and blue, but they really aren't traditional patriot prints.  Don't let the word "patriotic" stop you from using them as just red, or white, or blue.  As a matter of fact, the midnight blue with the small stars looks like a Summer night sky full of twinkling stars.  The white with the "stripes" of stars can be interpreted as being the milky way. The bundle just went from being patriotic to being about astronomy.

Some of the fabrics I brought into the mix for this month are from Blue Carolina by Chris Thompson a/k/a The Tattooed Quilter for Riley Blake Designs. The prints can easily be incorporated into a patriotic themed project.  I could also see his "cut, sew, repeat" prints being used for a scissors pouch. The free tutorial for the pouch project below is here.

(Google "quilted scissors case pattern" for other free tutorials.)

Besides "Stars and Stripes Gathering" and "Blue Carolina", other collections I pulled from were "Volume II" and "Freedom", both by Sweetwater for Moda.  All these collections will play really well together with March's bundle, "Seaside" by Tasha Noel. The bundle just became Nautical!

If you are interested in making a patriotic project, the "Stars & Stripes Pillow" below is a free project from Moda that can easily be made with the club bundles.
Find the pattern here.

Next month's fabric is already in stock and absolutely gorgeous!  I ordered enough so that everyone can get the exact same bundle. The fabric is from a very popular Moda designer and, in my opinion, is one of the prettiest collections from the designer.
Until next month....

April 2019 Fat Quarter Club

Tillalili Fat Quarter Club
April 2019

Hi Club Members!

Well March went by fast!  I feel like I just sent out March bundles and you're already getting April bundles!  Now that Spring is upon us, and some plants are trying desperately to show their colors, I thought it was time for some bright color and florals in the club.

For the 5 FQ club I chose one of my favorite collections, "Make A Wish" from the Canadian fabric manufacturer Camelot Fabrics.  Not only do I love and admire the colors, but the cotton fabric itself is such a superior quality.  You can feel the difference in the weight and texture.  Camelot's fabrics are great for projects where you need body and would usually add a heavier interfacing such as zipper bags.  With Camelot fabrics you may only need a lightweight interfacing, if at all.

The Make A Wish collection has several colorways.  Since there are only 5 FQs in the bundle, each bundle is from the same colorway.

I chose Kate Spain for the 10 FQ club.  Kate gets her inspiration from her beautiful home garden.  Her collections are full of color!   Kate is also a resident of my home state, Connecticut.

Kate Spain collections play really well together so I curated bundles from numerous collections to create really unique bundles.

The bundles were curated with several prints that will coordinate, while the other prints will compliment.  Use them all together in a scrappy project or divide the bundle into several matching mini bundles.  This is a great bundle to help you get started on Mother's Day projects.  May will be here before we know it!!

These are the collections in the 10 FQ club bundles....
(there's lots of them!)

Hope you enjoy your April bundle!

I would love to hear from you!

March 2019 Fat Quarter Club

Tillalili Fat Quarter Club
March 2019

Hi Club Members!

Did you figure out what designer was T. N.?  If you said Tasha Noel you were right!

Tasha Noel's newest collection is called Simple Goodness.  Tasha has stayed true to her color palette of navy, aqua, pink, and red, which makes all her collections play really well together.

Both clubs received these 5 prints from the new Simple Goodness collection.
This is the 5 FQ club bundle for March.

The 10 FQ club also received an additional 5 random complimentary prints from either "A Little Goodness" or "Seaside" or both.  I tried to stay away from the really nautical prints.  If you received the navy flags print from Seaside, don't let it keep you from using it for a different theme.  It could also be interpreted as quilt blocks hanging from a clothesline.

As I've said before, once you cut a print to make a HST or a 2.5" square, you basically don't see the intended print any longer.

All these collections can be used together as non-traditional patriotic fabric.

I love the Barn Star mini and pillows made by Tasha Noel.  With just a simple change of the wall hanging and throw pillows, your living room is ready for all the holidays throughout the Spring and Summer.  (I believe this is Tasha's actual livingroom.)

Here's another example of a non-traditional fabric, patriotic project.
This would be a great pillow, mug rug, or placemat.

All these collections are perfect for projects for the little ones too, which I'm sure must be the intended use when they're being designed.

Tasha Noel's collections sell out fairly fast, and I am sold out of many of the prints, BUT due to several club members NOT paying and NOT contacting me, I do have a small amount of these collections left in stock if anyone needs more for upcoming projects.  Their loss is your gain.

I just don't understand what makes someone be so inconsiderate when I make it so easy for someone to cancel.  There were a few club members who had to cancel and they emailed and let me know.  That's how simple it is.  A quick email!  I appreciate them so much!

Important message to members:

There's been some confusion about the club so I just want to take a moment to explain.
You are paying a month in advance.  So you paid for March's bundle in February.
The invoices are sent out automatically on the 1st day of each month.  You have 10 days to pay the invoice.  If you come across a month that you can't pay it by the 10th,  just send me an email and let me know.  No problem.  You can use the contact form on tillalili.com to contact me any time.  I will respond.

The bundles ship the first week of the month.  The ship date depends on when I can finish cutting all the FQs and get them packaged.  I'm cutting more than 1,000 fat quarters by hand every month by myself.  Those FQs have to then be folded and packaged.  It's just me doing it all.  And if the beginning of the month starts on a weekend, I'm not working.  I did work through the first weekend in March since I was running behind after taking some sick days in February.  Life happens to me too.  I appreciate your patience and understanding when/if that does happen.

I would love to hear from you. Please leave a comment.
Thank you for being a part of the Tillalili FQ Club!!

Don't forget to check out the club Facebook page!

February 2019 Fat Quarter Club

Tillalili Fat Quarter Club
February 2019

(Important club message at the end!)

Hello Members!

Do you remember I mentioned that some months might be a "Smorgasbord" of fabric?
Well, I had planned a new collection from Riley Blake for February but it hasn't shipped yet!!  So.... on to plan B! (which I am basically winging)

For the 5 FQ club I was able to curate a bundle from the gorgeous collection "Summer Blush" by Sedef Imer for Riley Blake.  Summer Blush will surely help get you started on Easter projects and/or Mother's Day gifts.

The 10 FQ club is having a semi-Smorgasbord month.  There are various different curated bundles going out to the 10  FQ club members.  I'm keeping your color likes and dislikes in mind while curating these bundles.

If you said yes on your registration form to receiving Stacy Iest Hsu panels, you are getting the TWO panels from the enchanting "Once Upon A Time" collection from Moda.  Each panel is the equivalent of 4 fat quarters.  You are also receiving 2 additional misc. fat quarters in either pink or lavender to compliment the panels, or to use as stash builders.

One panel is Princess dolls and a horse, while the other panel is an interactive castle tote.
It can easily be carried with the handles included.  These will be fun to embellish!
I can't imagine a little girl wouldn't love getting these in her Easter basket!!

I still had to figure out what to do about all the other club bundles.  Then I remembered I have a great stash of fat quarters put away for quilt shows.  Since I'm not a vendor at any quilt shows this year, I can use those!  I pulled out some fabulous Art Gallery Fabrics collections.  These collections are a rare find in shops or online these days.

So some of the 10 FQ club members are receiving collections from the former Art Gallery Designer, Jeni Baker of  In Color Order.   I curated bundles using prints from Jeni's collections Geometric Bliss and Color Me Retro.  Some bundles will also include a few complimentary prints from the Art Gallery Fabrics Designer, Pat Bravo.  Pat and her husband Walter are the founders and owners of Art Gallery Fabrics.

I still didn't have enough fabric for all the bundles so some members are getting the ever popular "Sweetness" by Sandy Gervais.  Sweetness has the most beautiful shade of Taupe! This is the last of my stock so plan wisely.  There's a few precuts in my shop Tillalili.com while supplies last.

It didn't stop there.  I ran out again! (at this point I'm shaking my head and laughing).
Luckily I had some extra bundles from last year with the Wistful Winds collection by Shari Butler from Doohickey Designs for Riley Blake.  Wistful Winds is a great, bright collection with lots of primary colors.  It's full of the happiest of colors!

Hope everyone has gotten something they like and can use for the upcoming holidays in their home, or for gifts.

Just a reminder, the club has a Facebook group for members.  Use the group page to share your bundles and projects.  You can also offer any FQs for trade that you may not want.  You never know, someone might love the fabric you don't and vice versa.  There's already been photos of great projects from January's bundle.  Click HERE and request to join.  The club is for members only.

Important message to members:
If you have any questions regarding the club, please check your welcome letter before emailing me with your question. I'm receiving a lot of emails with questions that were answered in the Welcome letter.  I would be happy to answer any question(s) you have if the answer is not in the Welcome letter. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

PLEASE NOTE:  There has been another increase in postage.  Since the February bundles were already paid for, I am absorbing the cost of the increase.  Future invoices will be changed to reflect the increase.

USPS has gone back to shipping fees according to the destination of the article being sent.  Therefore, your shipping fees will not be the same as everyone else. Packages are shipped from CT.  The father away from CT, the larger the increase.  USPS is really making it hard for the "little guys" in business!

I would love to hear if you like the club newsletter and fabric information being on the blog.
