New Moda Collections for 2020

The latest Moda collections for January/February 2020 release are revealed!

It's always fun to meet with my Moda rep and see the new collections.  It's exciting that I get to share an early peek at all the yummy collections with you.
Here are a few....

First NEW collection is "Canning Day" by Corey Yoder
~ February 2020 release ~
38 prints ~ 100% premium cotton

One of our fav designers, Corey Yoder, has done it again!  Corey continues to design new collections that blend beautifully with her past collections while still introducing a new color.  Corey's new color for Canning Day is a super pretty pink. It's a bright pink rather than a pastel.

I especially liked the coral tones in Canning Day, as well as the pretty shade of green.  There's also a beautiful teal, a bright true yellow, and of course, her signature slate grey.
Her stylized flowers are so unique!

Here's a look at Canning Day....

Next NEW collection is "Summer Sweet" by Sherri & Chelsi
~ January 2020 release ~
36 prints ~ 100% premium cotton

Summer Sweet has the same color palette you've come to love from this mother daughter duo.  The collection of 36 prints will blend beautifully with whatever fabric you have leftover from previous collections. The florals in Summer Sweet have the same wispy feel as in their past collections while still being a new design.

Next collection is "Rue 1800" by 3 Sisters
~ February 2020 release ~
40 prints ~ 100% premium cotton

What can I say about 3 Sister's collections that you don't already know?
Rue 1800 is just as vintage romantic as the previous collections. The florals are gorgeous!
All the colorways are soft tones, even the dark grey.  The main floral does NOT disappoint.

The tone on tone paisley from previous collections has been redone in light pink and a soft minty green, as well as a white tone on tone.  I felt the white tone on tone paisley was too white to blend comfortably as a sashing with the other off white colorway background. I would suggest a Bella off white for sashing instead.

Tillalili Fat Quarter Club July 2019

Tillalili Fat Quarter Club
July 2019

It's "Christmas in July!"

What better way to celebrate Christmas in July than with a Smorgasbord of holiday prints!
Some prints will coordinate, some won't.

Christmas is the time of year where your decorations don't have to match your home décor.
Even if your home has a modern feel, you can have beautiful, traditional holiday decorations.
And of course, you can use your fat quarters to make gifts like this drawstring bag I made.

It only takes a few fat quarters to make these easy, lined bags.
The FREE tutorial by Jeni Baker of In Color Order is here
Jeni also has a pattern for 8 different size bags.
Use them for gifts, travel bags, knitting, and more.

For the 5 FQ club I started with the whimsical birds print from Jingle Birds by Keiki for Moda.
The print is so fun and FULL of colors, which made it really easy to curate a bundle.
I added a green crosshatch print from The Cookie Exchange by Sweetwater Fabrics to act as a solid/blender, a red vine print from Jingle Birds, and 2 grey prints from The Cookie Exchange.
Add a few more red prints, or even some aqua, from your stash and you'll have a great start to your
holiday projects!

The 10 FQ club bundles have a variety of smaller curated bundles within the 10 fat quarters.
If you said you would like panels, you received an adorable panel from the Winter Wishes Collection by Whistler Studios for Windham Fabrics, along with matching prints from the collection. (The panel replaces 2 fat quarters).  There's so many different things you can make with this fun panel. My suggestions? A bench pillow, square pillows, pot holders, placemats, for a start. I think the "gift tags" (top right) would be so cute as coasters.  You could combine the "gift tag" coaster with a Christmas mug and packets of hot chocolate for a great little holiday gift.

More Winter Wishes prints were added to the bundle along with other coordinating prints.
Most bundles this month have 2 sets of 5 curated fat quarters.  The 2 bundles don't coordinate with each other.  Some bundles have a 5 FQ curated bundle of Winter Wishes, while the other FQ bundle is curated with a more traditional collection such as Delightful December or Under the Mistletoe.

Under The Mistletoe

Delightful December

Midnight Clear

There were too many holiday collections to mention them all.
I hope these bundles will inspire you to get a head start on your holiday projects.
Don't forget to share your projects with everyone on the club Facebook page!

Tillalili Fat Quarter Club June 2019

Tillalili Fat Quarter Club

June 2019

Hi Ladies!!   All I can say about this month's bundle is "GORGEOUS!"
When I saw this collection I knew I had to order it for the club.  B
oth clubs are receiving "Chantilly", the newest collection by Fig Tree & Company for Moda.

In my opinion, this is one of the prettiest collections by Fig Tree. Chantilly has a new, pretty light blue colorway, rather than the "pond" colorway normally found in most Fig Tree collections. The 5 FQ club is receiving the blue colorway.  There were just enough prints in the blue colorway to curate a perfect 5 fat quarter bundle.

The 10 FQ club is receiving the light and dark corals of the collection.  The light coral has a bit of a peachy tone to it. Whatever color it is, it's pretty!

Chantilly plays really well with Ella and Ollie, Strawberry Fields Revisited, and many other prints from numerous Fig Tree collections.  Don't be afraid to mix the collections.

Speaking of collections, have you heard?  Fig Tree has another new collection coming out later this year. It's called Scarlet & Sage, and will fit right in with these collections.
It looks like Scarlet & Sage has a little of the light blue from Chantilly in a few of the prints, but the Pond colorway is back.

Until next month....

Announcement:

Spring 2019 Quilt Market - More Collections

Spring 2019 Quilt Market
Other Collections that caught my eye.

Goldenrod
by 1 Canoe 2

I don't normally gravitate towards collections like this but this collection is just SO pretty!
The main floral is the perfect size for just about any project.  I would probably fussy cut if I was using the main floral print for a HST (half square triangle).  The light gold/taupe/coral combination in this cream colorway really stand-out in this collection!

I like the colorways separately, but in my opinion, I don't feel they play well together to all be used in the same quilt/project.  Therefore, I will be cherry picking this collection and curating my own Fat Quarter bundles for my shop.  (The prints I choose will also be available by the HY and Yard in my shop Tillalili).

I wasn't a fan of the striped print. This collection has more of a sophisticated feeling to have such a child-like stripe. I would have preferred a clean, sharp edge on the stripes. The colors were also a little too muddled for me.

Here are the other colorways in GOLDENROD.  I absolutely love, love, love the peachy/coral colorway.  The white tone-on-tone tiny floral is the same print as the peach tone-on-tone tiny floral 3 prints below it.  It's a nice delicate print and would be a very pretty background/sashing. The minty colorway is really pretty as well.  I can picture some throw pillows for use on porch furniture made with just the mint large floral.  It would have to be for NEXT Spring/Summer since this collection doesn't ship until November, 2019.

The Navy colorway is a deep, matt navy.  If these are the colors in your décor, you are going to love the navy colorway.  I can picture a fabric zipper pouch made with the navy main floral print on the outside, and the herringbone print pictured below it as the inside lining.  Wouldn't that be beautiful?

Next Market Collection...

Painted Meadow

by Robin Pickens

Robin has worked hard to bring us so many great collections in such a short amount of time. I think this has to be my favorite collection that Robin has done so far!  Loving the Coneflowers!!!

I'll be cherry picking bolts of fabric from this collection for my shop, and of course, I'll have precuts. Which precuts would you like to have in this collection?  Leave a comment below.

The white tone-on-tone "Thatched" print is a carryover from other collections.  It's sort of Robin's signature blender.  It's the same print as the pink, 6 prints below.  The Thatched print comes in all the colorways in this collection. That will be good to have since there's a lot of larger floral prints that will need a blender, especially a tone-on-tone blender that can appear as a solid.  I bet it would be great as a bag lining!

There are some really fun prints in this collection that make it perfect for a baby quilt too!
Isn't the paisley sweet?!  It almost doesn't even look like a paisley pattern.  It could be droplets of water with a baby cone flower inside of the water. (
My imagination works over time!)

One last note about Robin, she is a true artist.  I like that she doesn't load us up with striped fabric, and/or dots.  Wouldn't you agree that quilters have a ton of stripes and dots?  I much rather have another tone-on-tone print than stripes in 7 colors, and dots in 5 colors.  Whether the stripes are on the bias or not, they're still stripes!!

I would love to hear what you think about the collections so far.
Please feel free to leave a comment below.  Thanks!
