I did it! I finished a quilt. Start to finish!
Do you remember the first time you finished a quilt? I don't think I will ever forget this quilt.
I tried quilting many times in the past, before the internet and YouTube, but all my attempts turned into pillows or a bunch of cut material in a drawer.
(I think I may still have some.) hmmmm
I recently started watching YouTube videos (links below), Missouri Star Quilt to be exact, and after watching the same video at least a dozen times, I tried it. It seemed simple enough, and guess what? It was! In under 2 hours I had a quilt top. I watched a few more videos and decided to add a border. I should have watched how to square a quilt before I added the second border. (oops!) Let's just say it's a one of a kind!
I can't take credit for the actual quilting. I don't have a walking foot yet so a local woman with a long arm quilter quilted the top. I did do the binding though. Again, I watched a Missouri Star Quilt video on how to make a binding start to finish. Voila!
I always loved hand sewing patches on my jeans as a teen so I knew I would like hand sewing the binding. It was a great project to do at night while watching tv.
Now I have to master the art of photographing my quilts. Here are a few photos I took today.
I'm tempted to keep this quilt as a keepsake of my first quilt, but it is available to purchase in my Etsy shop. I hope a little baby boy, and his mom, will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it!
I would love to hear what you think. Please leave a comment. Thanks!
Google lost my photos. New photos coming soon.
